Keeping up with appearances is the petty truth of Women serving their time in the Pennsylvania Department Of Corrections.

What do I mean? Most in the free world I'm sure, are under the assumption that female corrections is a counterpart to the harsh reality of men serving time here in the state Pennsylvania.

However, nothing could be so further from the truth here at "Camp CupCake" SCI-Cambridge Springs. From an outside view, it seems that one would think if a women commits a crime in the State, she must now go away from her family and life she's known... to do "HARD TIME", but that is only in appearances.

The State show the public that there is a penalty for doing wrong in our society. Thus, they perpetuate the facade of the many negative stereo type of HARD prison life to the free world.

But I've come to find that, beyond the Great Curtain of the Puppet Mastering of OZ, lies the truth of it all. Once sucked into the Rabbit Hole of Women's Corrections in Pennsylvania, one is led into the micro cosmic world of facilitated Lesbian Love, Petty Rules, Gossip Mills, GFTS (Gay for the stay rituals) and worst of all...

The most Hardened Criminals (the long termers) being the privileged & coddled in this society of women, as the elite on campus; supplied with microwave ovens, in house gym equipment , privet Bathrooms in their 4 to a room plush suites, and offered the "crem de la' crem" of jail house luxuries.

To say the least, it gives the message to all on campus... "if your going to commit a crime and get caught... go all the way out at least , so you could get The VIP status in your retirement plan that is The Pennsylvania DOC".

No I'm not saying to get up tomorrow morning & go out on an all out purge of anyone in life that ails you, but from my own experience through the criminal Justice system of Pennsylvania...

It truly seems that the State is much more concerned with how things look, then how things really are... It's all about keeping up with appearances.

MADAMNATION #15/ Life is Fleeting... In your teens & twenties one feels as if life is everlasting. The world seems bright with budding life and there seem to be no other reasons to think otherwise that life will last forever. During your thirties, you began to take inventory of just where you'd like to settle in in the big scope of things. However, upon entering your fourties and beyond, you look into the mirror and find that the years are no friend to any of us... Hence, you realize just what the Japanese mantra "Life is Fleeting" is all about. Thus, as I sit back and listen to Nina Simons' tune ... "Who knows where time goes", I begin this entry. One thing I've learned through the years of being incarcerated, is one begins to see time really & truly as it is. Life stands still in only a mockingly aspect as the inmate watches time move on as he seems held in suspended animation. An ultimate punishment within itself to say the least. C
